Thaer Sabri is chief executive at the Electronic Money Association. He has some 20 years’ experience in the electronic money industry, in a regulatory capacity as well as in product management and business development. Thaer represents the industry with regulators, both in the EU and globally, and led industry engagement since 2002.
He is director of the European Payments Council, a member of the EU Commission Payment Systems Market Experts Group, and participates in FATF discussions with industry. He founded Flawless Money, a regulatory consultancy and FM Legal, a payments focused law firm. Thaer graduated from Sheffield University, undertook a PhD at Imperial College (University of London) and completed an LLB at Birkbeck College (University of London); he is a solicitor in England and Wales.
